Hi Stuart, thanks for posting!
The answer is yes, we will be selling certified fresh organic fruit and veg, meat and dairy and our goal is to help erode that overpriced/elitist image and sell it at affordable prices, exactly as you say. However, we will possibly sell some non-certified fruit and veg alongside it. For example, if we find a great small-scale local supplier, that we know work to organic standards but cannot afford the certification, we won't count them out. We're looking at it on a product-by-product basis.

Hi
I really like the sound of your shop but I wanted to know if you are planning on selling certified fresh organic fruit and veg. From what I read on your website you seem supportive of organic food but on your organic is it really better post you say 'organic has an important role to play in a healthier, fairer and more sustainable food system . We think the more of us who support Organic food with our everyday shopping habits, the cheaper and more accessible it will become. That’s why Protect Nature is one of hiSbe‘s 8 Everyday Choices.' It isn't clear to me if this means you will be selling organic veg. After all it is the supermarkets that have given people the impression that organic is elitist and overpriced. There are shops up and down the country (far from enough of them, which is why your shops sounds such a great idea) as well as opportunities to buy direct from box schemes or at the farm gate where prices for organic are as good as non organic supermarket produce. There are also plenty of organic wholesalers and farms selling produce to shops at affordable prices to sell on to the customer. I look forward to your response. Thanks and all the best with the shops

I love your front page and the immediacy of the message. Exactly what we need in Brighton and London Road is a great place for it to be.
Well done and good luck. I was sorry to miss you at the Oxford Real Farming Conference but got your name from Ruth West.
The marketing and distribution is a really important part of Food Sovereignty that often gets left out.

On the matter of the blue plastics all over the strawberry fields in England, you may note that you have the company there who sends a chemical additive all over the world that makes the plastic biodegrade in a few months. We use it in South Africa, and the big users are in South America. The co is located in Borehamwood London called Symphony Environmental Limited.

Enjoyed reading this blog which sucessfully simplfied some of the reasons why eating processed food only gives a short term reward with the potentially longer term costs of poor health and obesity. Is it only me that felt the government could have created a positive public health image by sponsoring the Olympic torch procession rather than selling out to big business?
